Conclusiones
La comorbilidad depresión- eventos cardiacos esta ampliamente demostrada, es de suma importancia descartar el síndrome depresivo en el adulto mayor que suele ser subdiagnosticado con el objetivo de realizar un adecuado tratamiento y disminuir la mortalidad cardiovascular. En cuanto al abordaje terapéutico seleccionar el antidepresivo en función de los estudios controlados evaluando las interacciones debido a la frecuente polifarmacia en esta etapa de la vida y asociar a psicoterapia.

Tener en cuenta que el paciente psiquiátrico presenta riesgos elevados de enfermedad cardiovascular y /o diabetes frecuentemente no evaluados ni tratados.
